History Of The Veterans Museum

Established in 2002, the Wise County Veterans Group (WCVG) goals were to serve the community and country to establish a meeting group to preserve memories and the history of returning veterans of the former wars. Today they have grown to over 240 members that meet on a weekly basis each Saturday to share breakfast and camaraderie, in which they all contribute by sharing and speaking with the community.

Veterans Park And Museum

Funded entirely by contributions from citizens and businesses from Wise County, the Wise County Veterans Memorial Park was created in 2005. The park was officially dedicated on 10 November 2005 with the honorable US Representative Kay Granger as the guest of Honor. Since opening, the park has been in use honoring our national patriotic holidays and other approved events.

After having so much success with the park, Wise country Veterans Museum was created as an extension of the park. Most of the members donated items and pictures to the museum as a way of contributing to the heritage of not only Wise Country but also Texas and the whole nation. The goal of the museum is to provide the visitors with basic knowledge of military history and preserve items and stories before they were lost forever.
